About Us
In mahjong, the first tile in the bamboo suit is often represented by a bird. It goes by many names: you might hear One Bam, Bird Bam, or in our case, Birdie Bam! When playing with friends, it's common to celebrate when the tile is played, either with a cheer or a toast. When I was thinking of what to call my new venture, I realized that this tile was the perfection representation of my goals: to bring people together, teach them how to play, and to have fun doing it!
Birdie Bam Mahjong is the name of my business, but my name is Kristen Lacasse — I'm a wife and mom of two grown kids in Milton, MA and have enjoyed being an active member of the community for many years. When I first learned how to play mahjong, I quickly fell in love with the game, but also saw an opportunity to share it with others in the way my friends shared it with me. That's why I offer a variety of experiences, for novice players and experts alike!
As an experienced and enthusiastic mahjong instructor, I've had the pleasure of teaching this game to many people and have watched them fall in love with it. My goal is always to create a relaxed, supportive environment where learning is both fun and social. I’m passionate about clear instruction, thoughtful strategy, and sharing the game's rich tradition with anyone willing to learn.
